Shiying Lu is a photographer, writer, and aspiring filmmaker from Queens, New York. 

She currently resides in Chicago where she continues to expand her artistic practice through the exploration of new mediums such as screenprinting and risography, while remaining focused on photography as her primary form. She views Nan Goldin, Peter Hujar and Robert Mapplethorpe as her primary influences in the realm of photography, and is interested in documenting the queer community around her. 

Shiying’s latest project graduates into moving image. She is currently writing her first feature-length film, Dong Dong Dynasty, which follows the story of an unsuccessful antique dealer in his mid-50s who unexpectedly comes into some money and is forced to navigate his newfound wealth as a means to escape his unhappiness.
